STORAGE FAQS

  • When can I move in?

If there is a storage space available that meets your specific storage needs, you can move in anytime during normal access hours.

  • How much notice needs to be given before I move out?

All contracts are on a month-to-month basis but you can vacate your storage unit anytime you choose. We ask that you provide us with 2 days’ verbal or written notice. You can do this by simply informing one of our friendly staff members. There is no additional paperwork you’ll need to fill out. Once you’ve removed all your items from storage, please remember to take your lock with you, so that we know you are no longer using the storage unit. Thanks for storing with us and please keep us in mind the next time you need a self storage unit.

  • What type of documentation do I need to provide in order to rent a space?

We require a government-issued photo ID (example: driver’s license, state ID, or passport).

  • Do I need to sign a long-term lease?

No, we rent on a month-to-month basis unless the customer requests otherwise.

  • How do I make a payment?

At A Thrifty Storage, our mission is to make things easy and convenient for our customers, including paying their monthly bill. In-person payments can be made with cash, check, debit or credit card. We also offer safe and secure payments online in the "Pay My Bill" section of our website. Customers also have the option to sign up for our pre-authorized payment plan and have funds automatically withdrawn from their credit card each month.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Checks, money orders, VISA, MasterCard, American Express and cash.

  • What types of storage solutions do you offer?

We offer a wide range of storage solutions to accommodate your personal and business needs. We also offer solutions for vehicle and trailer storage as well. If you're relocating, renovating or reorganizing, we have personal storage units available so you can easily store furniture, family keepsakes or seasonal lawn and garden equipment. To protect your boat, RV or automobile, we also offer vehicle storage.

  • How do I know how much storage space I will need?

You can either use our Storage Calculator on our website or call our manager for assistance.

  • Are there any items that I am NOT able to store?

You are prohibited from storing any items that are explosive, flammable, odorous, hazardous, corrosive or perishable. These items can include food, drinks, fireworks, propane tanks, chemicals, etc. If you feel you have an item that may be classified as prohibited but are unsure, please contact one of our friendly staff members for clarification.

  • Does there have to be someone in the office to let me through the security gates?

No. At the time of signing you will be given your own security pass code that will allow you access to your unit during normal access hours.

  • What happens when my rent payment is late?

Your monthly rent is due the first of each month. We have a nine day grace period before charging a late fee. On the 10th day, your account will be delinquent, and the late fee will be assessed. Late fees cannot be waived and the full balance must be paid immediately to avoid foreclosure. Please also note that until your account is paid in full, access to your unit may be denied, your gate code access is removed and your unit will be over-locked.

  • If my account goes delinquent, will my belongings go to auction?

At A Thrifty Storage we will make best efforts to try to contact any customer with a delinquent account before any steps are taken toward an auction. As a tenant, you are responsible for maintaining current and accurate contact information so we can keep communication open. Paying your bill on time is also your responsibility. If we cannot contact you, or if payment cannot be resolved, auction proceedings may be next. The length of time for a delinquent account to be placed in auction varies. We recommend that you contact the facility manager as soon as possible if your payment is late. We will provide written notice to your email address or physical address listed on your account when required by law.

  • What happens if my belongings go to auction?

Once the unit is sold at auction, the proceeds are applied to your outstanding balance. If the proceeds are higher than the amount due, a check for the difference will be sent to the original person leasing the storage unit. If the proceeds are lower than the outstanding balance the account will be sent to collections.
